Microbiology<\/strong><span class=\"relative\">, administered through the Faculty of Veterinary &amp; Animal Sciences under its Biological Sciences programs. Admission requires a qualified <\/span><strong data-start=\"207\" data-end=\"284\">M.Phil.\/M.Sc. (Hons) or equivalent in Microbiology or related disciplines<\/strong><span class=\"relative\">, with a minimum CGPA\u202fof 3.00\/4.00 (or first division) and a passing score of <\/span><strong data-start=\"362\" data-end=\"405\" data-is-last-node=\"\">70% in GAT\u2011Subject or the GU entry test<\/strong><span class=\"ms-1\">.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"119\" data-end=\"195\"><span class=\"relative\">However, in <\/span><strong data-start=\"12\" data-end=\"20\">2020<\/strong><span class=\"relative\">, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) <\/span><strong data-start=\"60\" data-end=\"81\">halted enrollment<\/strong><span class=\"relative\"> in the university\u2019s Ph.D. programmers\u2014including Microbiology\u2014citing deficiencies in faculty expertise, research facilities, and course quality. These programmers were suspended until significant structural reforms were implemented<\/span>.<\/p><p data-start=\"197\" data-end=\"273\"><span class=\"relative\">Assuming reinstatement, the Ph.D. path would combine advanced coursework and seminars with independent <\/span><strong data-start=\"103\" data-end=\"148\">thesis research under faculty supervision<\/strong><span class=\"relative\">, focusing on specializations such as molecular microbiology, industrial or environmental microbiology, immunopathogenesis, or food microbiology. Research is supported by facilities within the Institute of Microbiology and collaboration with KP livestock and dairy departments and field resources at the university\u2019s farms and wildlife facilities<\/span>.<\/p><p data-start=\"275\" data-end=\"618\">Graduates, after their thesis defense, are prepared for careers in academic research, diagnostics, biotechnology industries, public health agencies, and potentially international or governmental roles. The university\u2019s commitment to meeting HEC quality benchmarks aims to strengthen research capacity and doctoral training in the coming years.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element
