Introduction
Agronomy was one of the major parent departments when agriculture classes started back in 1975 at Science & Agriculture College, City campus, Dera Ismail Khan. In September 2007, it was shifted from City Campus to New Campus in the present premises. The Department of Agronomy aims at providing quality academic education in crop production, integrated crop-nutrient management, resource conservation technology, integrated weed management, seed technology, stress agronomy, arid farming etc.
Strengths of the Department
- Well-equipped and highly qualified bunch of faculty with diverse exposures
- Highest students intake in B.Sc (Hons), M.Sc (Hons) and Ph.D. degree programs.
- Highest number of HEC Approved Supervisors in the department.
- Dr. Mohammad Safdar Baloch, Chairperson/Dean has received Research Productivity Award from Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, Govt. of Pakistan, Islamabad.

- Promoting education, research on sustainable basis by enhancing agricultural productivity under changing climatic scenario.
Objective
- To provide academic training in crop production, crop physiology, seed technology and arid zone agronomy under changing environmental scenario by utilizing all natural resources
- To conduct problem oriented research and provide educational and research linkages for uplifting the living standards of the agricultural community.
- To develop linkages with national and international organizations regarding agricultural research.
