Introduction
The Department of Electrical Engineering at Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan, stands as a cornerstone of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET), committed to delivering quality education, fostering innovation, and contributing to national and global technological advancement. Since the induction of its first undergraduate batch in 2011, the department has grown steadily, both in academic scope and research capacity.
The department offers a comprehensive suite of academic programs designed to meet the evolving demands of the engineering and technology sectors. At the undergraduate level, we offer degree programs in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, and Renewable Energies. These programs are built upon a solid foundation of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and ethical values, aiming to produce well-rounded graduates who can lead and innovate in a competitive global landscape.
Our Electrical Engineering undergraduate program is proudly accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) under their prestigious Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework that grants these programs substantial international equivalence to undergraduate programs of other Washington Accord Signatories. This reflects our commitment to continuous quality enhancement and alignment with international educational standards.
For advanced academic pursuits, the department offers Master’s and Ph.D. programs in Electrical Engineering, where students engage in high-impact research under the supervision of experienced and qualified faculty. Areas of research span across power systems, control systems, renewable energy, dielectrics and electrical insulations, communications, and emerging interdisciplinary fields.

Mission
The mission of the Department of Electrical Engineering is to prepare professionals who are ready to embark on a wide range of career opportunities in industries and research, both nationally and internationally, in all fields of Electrical Engineering.
Objective
- To provide high-quality education and technical training in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, and Renewable Energy Technologies that meet national and international standards.
- To foster innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students through outcome-based education (OBE), hands-on laboratory experience, and industry-linked projects.
- To promote advanced research and development in electrical engineering and allied fields through robust postgraduate (MS and PhD) programs that contribute to scientific and technological advancement.
- To align academic programs with the latest guidelines of professional bodies such as the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), National Technology Council (NTC), and Higher Education Commission (HEC) to ensure relevance, accreditation, and continuous improvement.
- To prepare graduates for successful careers in engineering, technology, research, and entrepreneurship by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and ethical values required in a competitive and rapidly evolving global landscape.

Laboratory Facilities:
The Department of Electrical Engineering at Gomal University is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories. - Circuits and Instrumentation Lab: Equipped to support experiments for foundation courses like Circuits, Applied Physics, Workshop Practices, Electrical Measurements, and Instrumentation.
- Electronics Lab: To teach practical Electronics, Digital Logic Design, and Power Electronics.
- Embedded Systems Lab: Equipped to facilitate hands-on experiments in Microprocessor, Embedded Systems, Microprocessor Interfacing, and Digital Signal Processing.
- Machines and Power Systems Lab: To support experiments in Power Generation, Power Distribution, Power Utilization, Power Transmission, and Electric Machines.
- Communication Systems Lab: A laboratory equipped to support experiments in Principles of Communications.
- Microwave and Antennas Lab: To facilitate experiments in the field of Microwave Engineering, Antenna design, and Radio-Wave Propagation.
- Optical Communications & Control Lab: To assist with experiments in Optical Communication and Control Systems.
- Project Lab: Equipped with facilities to help students in designing and developing projects.
- Computer Laboratory: A multi-purpose lab equipped with state-of-the-art PCs to accommodate a variety of experiments, from Signal & Systems, Computer Networks, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning, to name a few.
