The Department of Mathematics was Established in 1974. We have several areas of strength in the Department including Fixed Point Theory, Algebra, Analysis, Differential Equations, Functional Analysis and Numerical Analysis, Cryptography, Fractional Calculus. Our faculty members are active professionals in the fields they are serving. All are graduates of esteemed universities, and are active in teaching and self-development. These, through perceptive teaching and careful guidance, help students to develop meaningful and lasting connections with the sciences and mathematics.

The Department of Mathematics at GU offers M.Phil., B. S (four years) and ADS programs. The department currently has 280 students. It is our mission to provide quality mathematics instruction at all levels, to make innovative contributions to the findings and dissemination of mathematical knowledge, and to develop adept professionals, and educated leaders who are desperately required to the wants of society. Besides this, Mathematics Department also provide services to most of the other Departments of the university.

 The Department of Mathematics is committed to provide an excellent major for students, whose career goals are teaching, research, immediate entry into the workforce. The department is an active partner with other programs in science, social sciences, business, education and technology by providing specialized mathematical expertise.
