Vision

Pharmacy Practice is a dynamic and novel department with the objective, to provide students with a platform of knowledge and experience, so that they are confident to support patients in their therapeutic use and to make clinical decisions for achieving definite patient outcomes. Department of Pharmacy Practice aims to serve as a leader of transformational change in Pharmacy Practice through excellence in education, patient care and research in the discipline. It focuses on delivering quality patient healthcare. Pharmacy Practice is a discipline with an unconventional focus on developing professional roles of pharmacists with the extensive goal of health care optimization. Pharmacy education in developing countries in the past, have mainly focused on industrial and product development roles of pharmacist. But these, major changes have been seen in pharmacy practice and other practice fields for pharmacists. The introduction of Pharmacy Practice as a major discipline has necessitated a change in the current curriculum of pharmacy education in developing countries.

The Department of Pharmacy practice is committed to provide proficient environment for both faculty members and students to excel learning. Post graduate research in pharmacy practice provides a variety of opportunities to study and research with emphasis on evidence-based study to raise the health care standards and resources recruitment for the future growth in novel disciplines of pharmaceutical care services. Department is well aware about the needs and expectations of health care sector, for that purpose department is focused in collaboration with industry and other centers of excellence.

The department offers integration practice modules where the students will have the opportunity to visit and experience hands-on training at various practice premises such as hospitals, retail, community and clinical specialties with the emphasis on teaching and demonstrating quality pharmaceutical care. The department of Pharmacy Practice is involved in the hospital internship program to under grade students extending from 4th professional year to 5th professional year which will enhance their experience and to gain a solid insight of the role of Pharmacist in the health care system. These approaches will optimize the use of medication across all the health care settings along with innovation and leadership in pharmacy education, clinical practice and research. It will also help to serve society as the professional responsible for the appropriate use of medications, devices, and services to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes
