Introduction

 

The Ph.D. in Horticulture at Gomal University is an intensive research-focused program designed for students aiming to advance knowledge in plant sciences, crop improvement, and sustainable horticultural practices. This program emphasizes independent research in areas such as advanced plant breeding, plant physiology, crop disease management, and biotechnology in horticulture. Doctoral candidates work closely with faculty advisors, conduct original research, and contribute to scientific publications. The program prepares graduates for high-level careers in academia, agricultural research institutions, and industry, equipping them to address critical challenges in food security, environmental conservation, and sustainable agriculture.

The department started the classes of PhD in Horticulture in 1999. The students are being taught the advanced courses of Horticulture during the first two semesters, after which they have to conduct a Research work under the supervision of a supervisor, have to write a research thesis and then have to defend it in Public (Public defense) to get the Degree of PhD in Horticulture.
