Introduction

The Department of Basic Veterinary Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (FVAS), Gomal University, serves as the academic foundation of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program. The department provides students with essential knowledge of animal anatomy, histology, physiology, pharmacology, and biochemistry, establishing a strong scientific basis for understanding animal health, disease, and clinical veterinary sciences.

The department offers practical and laboratory-based education through specialized Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, Pharmacology, and Biochemistry Laboratories. These facilities provide students with hands-on training, develop essential scientific and technical skills, and strengthen the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical veterinary applications.

In addition to teaching and practical training, the department provides an academic and laboratory environment that supports undergraduate, postgraduate, and faculty research in basic veterinary and biomedical sciences.
