Introduction

Gomal University, located in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, offers a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program in Botany designed to cultivate advanced research skills and deepen understanding in plant sciences. Established in 1974, Gomal University is one of the oldest institutions in the province and occupies one of the largest campuses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 

The Ph.D. in Botany program spans three years and is structured to provide rigorous training in various botanical disciplines. Candidates are expected to engage in comprehensive coursework and original research, contributing to the field’s body of knowledge. The program emphasizes areas such as plant physiology, taxonomy, ecology, and molecular biology, aligning with contemporary scientific advancements.

Admission to the program requires a Master’s degree (M.Sc. Hons., M.Phil., or M.S.) in Botany or a related field, with a minimum first division or a CGPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale from an HEC-recognized institution. Additionally, applicants must have qualified the GAT-Subject test or the university’s own entrance examination with a minimum score of 60%.
